The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) recommended the motorists to avoid Ella-Wellawaya road due to threat of landslides in the area.
With the prevailing extreme weather condition is expected to continue with in next 24-hours, DMC has also issued landslide warning to Matale and Kandy districts.
Senior Scientist at the Landslide Research and Risk Management Division, Dr. H.A.G. Jayatissa, said that the people living in these areas need to give special attention on all mountain areas, man-made cut slopes, and roads within the district.
Meanwhile, the Met. Department forecasts that there will be deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai may be rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50-60 kmph at times.
