Prof. Tissa Kariyawasam passes away

Professor Tissa Kariyawasam has passed away. He was 72 years old at the time of his death.
Professor Kariyawasam is well known for Sinhala literature particularly in drama, and whose academic career spanned over 40-years. He was the former Dean of the Art Faculty of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Kariyawasam was also a one time Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini corporation.
He graduated from the University of Peradeniya with Honours in Sinhala in 1964.
