Heavy showers likely at some places over the Island

Heavy showers (about 100mm) are likely at some places, the Met. Dept. predicts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district. Thundershowers will develop elsewhere during the afternoon or evening.
The Department says that winds will be North-easterly and the speed will be 20-40 kmph. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai may be fairly rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times.
