A special security plan will be implemented tomorrow (8) in and around the Department of Elections in Rajagiriya 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. while nominations for the Presidential elections are accepted, the Department of Police said.
According to police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana, a special traffic plan will also be implemented in the specific area at the time of nominations are being accepted.
SSP Rohana added that some 2,000 police officers will be deployed in and around the department as a security measure. “We recommend the motorists to use alternative routes during this period. Due to the traffic plan, only one lane of the roads towards Ayurveda Roundabout to Welikada junction will be opened for traffic. The roads will only be opened for light vehicles and public transportation buses,” he added.
The candidates contesting for the forthcoming Presidential election will arrive at the Department of Elections, tomorrow.
