
In a new turn of events at the current situation in the country’s political arena, United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Western Provincial Councilor Hirunika Premachandra said she has decided to resign from the party and support the Common Opposition Candidate at the forthcoming Presidential election.
She made the observation at a press conference held in Colombo, this afternoon.
However, General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP) Tissa Attanayake, MP, too tended his resignation letter to party leader Ranil Wickramaginghe, this morning. Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Parliamentarian Jayantha Ketagoda has also joined UPFA and pledged to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the election.
