A mother and her son who were wounded following a shooting carried out by armed robbers have been admitted to the Negombo General Hospital.
Police said the shooting occurred at around 10.00pm last night (11) in the Kiragara area in Dankotuwa.
Two armed men on a motorcycle had arrived at the residence of a businessman, the owner of a roofing tile factory, and threatened the occupants with their weapons in an attempt to steal valuables from the home.
However, the homeowner had attacked one of the robbers with a chair prompting the suspects to open fire and immediately flee the location.
The businessman’s wife and child were wounded from the shooting.
The gunmen have not been identified while Dankotuwa Police are conducting an investigation.
