A Sri Lankan clerk, who allegedly caught an 11-year-old girl’s waist from behind while making his body touch her intentionally, has been charged with molestation in the Court of First Instance in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The 31-year-old Sri Lankan allegedly repeated the act with the Indian girl twice, taking advantage of her tender age.
The incident allegedly happened on October 7 inside a shop in Al Qusais.
The schoolgirl said during investigation that while she was in the shop, she felt someone getting very close to her in a way his body touched hers from behind. “He moved his body while grabbing my waist. He did it twice.” She told this to her parents and they filed a complaint at Al Qusais police station.
The girl’s father, a 39-year-old Indian engineer, confirmed that his daughter had told him about the man touching her with his body.
The defendant admitted to the charge during interrogation. The girl identified him among other suspects at the police station.
The police seized the clothes the accused was wearing at the time of the incident from his place.
The prosecution enclosed to the case file CCTV footage showing the accused molesting the girl.
