
Two persons were killed while another two were critically injured after a bus collided with a three-wheeler in the Bogahawewa area on the Thanamalwila-Lunugamwehera main road today.
Police said a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus which was traveling from Matara to Ampara was involved in the collision with a three-wheeler traveling on the opposite direction.
Four persons including the driver of the three-wheeler were admitted to the Lunugamvehera Hospital following the accident.
However, the driver of the three-wheeler, a 33-year-old resident of Thanamalwila, and another passenger, a 30-year-old from Ranawaranawa, succumbed to injuries shortly after.
The two other passengers, who are in critical condition, have been transferred to the Hambantota Hospital.
The driver of the SLTB bus has been arrested over the incident while Lunugamvehera Police are conducting further investigations.
