“Our purpose was fulfilled,” says Jacqueline Fernandez

Salman Khan’s recent visit to his Kick co-star Jacqueline Fernandez’s home country, Sri Lanka called off for yet another controversy for him. The actor’s visit to Colombo sparked rumours that he was campaigning for Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa in the upcoming Presidential elections. This led to the agitation of various Tamil parties, and Tamil leader Vaiko pronounced Salman as traitor!

To an extent that the Tamil group even protested outside Salman’s Mumbai residence on Sunday, and was keen on continuing the protest until the actor apologizes for his participation to campaign.

However, the truth is that the former Bigg Boss host went to Sri Lanka to extend the good work of his charitable trust, Being Human. In a tweet, Salman clarified,”During d READY schedule in sri lanka v hd dn an eye camp there . while shooting KICK jacqueline told me if v do another eye camp in sri lanka i should visit her restaurant also. v did a camp this week and i kept my promise and went to jacqueline’s restaurant. its worth a visit . i’m surely going back for more .”

And now it’s Jacqueline, who has also spoken on the entire controversy. We caught up with the Roy actress at Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar launch last night. And in an EXCLUSIVE conversation, Jacqueline said, “We had gone there for a Being Human charity campaign. We went there for a cause which he (Salman) has been doing for years. We actually went there to make donations and create awareness. So that purpose was fulfilled and that’s what important to us.”

For those of you who don’t know, Salman donated 300 lenses to facilitate cataract operations in certain underprivileged areas of Sri Lanka. Instead of applauding his noble gesture, it is quite ridiculous to say that Salman campaigned for Rajapaksa, just because they were clicked together.
