Former Health Minister Tissa Attanayake has reportedly left the country for Singapore yesterday.
Attanayake, who has served as the General Secretary of United National Party (UNP) for a long period, crossed over to the then government and pledged support to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Election.
He was appointed as the Minister of Health, filling the ministerial portfolio left vacant following the defection of Maithripala Sirisena to challenge Rajapaksa at the polls.
However, Attanayake’s stint as Health Minister was only short-term as Sirisena defeated Rajapaksa in the January 8 election and appointed a new cabinet.
