President Sirisena arrives at Parliament for the first time since election

President Maithripala Sirisena arrived at the Parliament, a short while ago, and the Parliament will meet for the first time since the Presidential election on 8 January.
During the two scheduled days for sittings this week, Parliament is set to approve two pending Bills, the Government Information Department said.
At the meeting Prime Minister Wickremesinghe held with the UNP ministers, State Ministers and Deputy Ministers on Friday, a decision had been taken to pass the Right to Information (RTI) legislation during the 100 days in office along with the National Medicinal Drug Policy Bill and new laws to give more powers to the Auditor General.
