
Parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma who was arrested over an assaulting incident was remanded until 2 February by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, this afternoon.
The ruling party Parliamentarian was arrested by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD), this morning, for allegedly making a UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha member Murugan Pushpakumara kneel down on the road and assaulting him, during the recent opening of a SLFP office in Agalawatta, Kalutara.
President Maithripala Sirisena has also instructed the IGP to appoint a team of officers to investigate on the incident.
