Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, North western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the next 48-hours, the Met Department predicts.
The Department says heavy falls (more than 100mm) are also likely at some places.
North east monsoonal winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the island and surrounding sea areas. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
