President of the Centre for Islamic Research and Information (CIRI) and Psychological Counsellor, Mohamed Dahalan, on Friday (6) severely criticised the policy of some print, electronic media organisations and civil organisations for their bid to damage the “good reputation” of Islam and Muslims.

Dahalan added that a civil organisation has severely criticised the Quran at an assembly held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. “Some are trying to mislead the society with few quotes they found from the Holy Quran. No one can criticise it without knowing the core theories. It is like a blind man try to describe an elephant that he has never seen,” he said. 
 
He went on saying that as one cannot judge the essence of either Thripitakaya or Bible without having a deep knowledge, likewise, it is illogical to criticise the Quran. 

“Since, there is a hate campaign being launched against the Muslims, it is natural for the Buddhists to assume that there is a conspiracy against them. We all have to unite to put an end to this hate campaign. Muslims can live in harmony and peace with very different civilizations” said Dahalan.

He also pointed out that a mosque is a place where Muslims worship; thus even a non-Muslim can enter and visit it anytime. “It is just like a temple, kovil or a church,” he added. 

“After three decades of war, we had new hopes of peace. We all thought that victory was the victory of peace. But instead we witnessed a hate campaign launched targeting the Muslims and our religion. Those who are accusing Islam and Muslims that the religion is evil, all these people are talking without basis. Because, they should really study something before they criticise it.” Dahalan said.
