Lecturers at the Colombo University on Monday (9) morning staged a protest opposite the Vice Chancellor’s office demanding VC’s immediate resignation from the post.
Ada Derana reporter said that the lecturers, who represent the Colombo University Arts Faculty Teachers’ Association (AFTA) and Colombo University Federation of Teachers’ Associations (CUFTA), had also forcefully entered into the VC’s office at College House.
Earlier, the university senate unanimously had decided that VC Dr. Kumara Hirimburegama was not suitable for the post.
The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) also called for the immediate resignation of Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama, the wife of Kumara Hirimburegama, as the Chairperson of the University Grants Commission (UGC), while charging her with misconduct and abuse of power.
