Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam is not mature enough to handle and execute his duties, Chief Minister of the North Western Province, Dayasiri Jayasekera, charged on Wednesday (11).
He asserted that more experienced and more skilled person will have to take over the position, or the education sector will be in jeopardy soon.
Jayasekera also slammed Kariyawasam for his “sloppy work” saying that “Unlike Minister Karu Jayasuriya or Parliamentarian Gamini Jayawickrama Perera; yet Minister Kariyawasam has failed to hold a meeting with the Provincial Ministers. But he was too busy with participating in ceremonies, in which he declared open several ‘Mahindodaya’ technical laboratories that were constructed by the former government, under a different name. Kariyawasam is a Cabinet Minister who hasn’t even read the thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution.”
