The entire subcontinent has been experiencing pre-Monsoon conditions, including parts of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Since the last two days, pre-Monsoon activity has picked up pace and is expected to become more intense over the next 2 days.
The activity may prolong even further over the southern parts of India including Sri Lanka, the Sky Met Weather news agency predicted in a statement.
Rain in Sri Lanka
Another cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Mannar, adjoining Tamil Nadu
and parts of Sri Lanka is causing widespread rainfall activity over the area. The circulation is expected to remain in the same region for the next 3 days and continue to give rain at most places in the aforementioned region.
In the last 24 hours, Galle recorded 44 mm rain, Kandy 37 mm, Pottuvil 30 mm, Mahailluppallama 43.2 mm, Anuradhapura 101.2 mm, Trincomalee 28 mm, and Mannar 24.3 mm. The region is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain over the next 2 to 3 days.
