The Government on Thursday (14) vehemently condemned the terrorist attack at Karachi, Pakistan, which killed at least 43 people.
“Sri Lankan Government denounced in the strongest terms, terrorist attack on a bus in Karachi, killing innocent civilians and injuring many.
Firing on men, women and children while they were on their way to participate in religious observances displays a brutality of unimaginable proportions,” a Foreign Ministry media release said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this deplorable violence. We stand firmly with the Government and people of Pakistan in their hour of grief and wish those who were injured, a quick recovery. Sri Lanka condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and expresses support for all efforts to combat this scourge,” the media release added.
Gunmen on motorbikes attacked the bus carrying members in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, killing 43 people and wounding 19 others.
Six attackers used 9 mm pistols to shoot at the people on the bus, the CNN reported.
After the attack, the bus was driven into a hospital parking lot with bullet holes riddled all along its side, said Salma Wahid, an official at the Memon Medical Institute Hospital in Karachi.
