Roads towards Parliament will be closed from 1-7 pm today due to the commemoration of war heroes in Battaramulla, the police said.
The fallen war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice on behalf of the motherland will be remembered today at a solemn ceremony at the Cenotaph (Ranaviru Monument).
President Maithripala Sirisena will attend the ceremony as the chief guest.
More than 2500 family members of fallen War Heroes, 100 from each district will participate at the ceremony.
The ceremony is being organized by the Ranaviru Seva Authority (RVSA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence to commemorate fallen War Heroes of the armed forces and Police, who had made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland.
In parallel to the main function, 8 more commemorating ceremonies have also being arranged in each province in June to celebrate the same.
