Though President Maithripala Sirisena acts in ‘good faith’, the United National Party (UNP) is playing a role contrary to its real character, UPFA General Secretary and SLFP National Organiser Susil Premajayantha MP said.
The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo, this morning (3).
He pointed out that the UNPers have turned a blind eye to pass the Right to Information Act and the Audit Act, which were promised by the Government’s 100-day pledge.
“The opposition will extend its support to pass the 20th Amendment. We backed the 19th Amendment after the Government vowed to table the 20th Amendment as well,” he added.
He also went into say that there is no mechanism to provide 1 million jobs for the youth of this country which was promised by the Prime Minister during the January presidential election.
