Jaffna violence: 33 protesters get bail

A batch of 33 persons, who were recently arrested for unruly behavior near the Jaffna court complex, have been released on bail today (8).
The suspects were enlarged on two personal bails of Rs. 200,000 each by the Jaffna Magistrate.
An Indian national was also among the arrested persons, and he was acquitted by the Magistrate, Ada Derana reporter said.
On May 20, a total of 130 were arrested during protests as Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd, who were demanding that authorities hand over nine men who were arrested over the gang-rape and murder of a 17-year-old schoolgirl in Jaffna.
