Two suspects have been arrested on charges of repeatedly raping a 15-year-old girl, Chilaw Police said.
The arrested individuals, who are residents of Bangadeniya in Chilaw, have been identified as the victim’s brother-in-law (25) and another relative (21).
The girl had been living under the care of a relative as both her parents are employed abroad and her sister resides separately after marriage.
The victim is a Grade 10 student at a school on the area.
In a separate incident, three youths have been arrested over the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl from Kaladiya, Puttalam. The victim’s boyfriend is also said to be among the arrested suspects.
The girl was reportedly returning home after attending classes at a computer training institute in the Puttalam Town, when her lover picked her up and took her to an abandoned property in the Seguvantivu area, on his motorcycle.
He had raped the girl at the location while the other two suspects had secretly filmed the incident on a mobile phone. They had threatened to release the video to the internet before repeatedly raping the girl.
The victim’s 24-year-old boyfriend, a resident of Kaladiya, and the other suspects (aged 19 and 21) have been arrested by police.
