Sri Lanka takes precautionary measures against MERS

Sri Lanka has taken special measures to ensure the epidemic of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), which began in South Korea last month and is gaining space, from entering Sri Lanka, the Government official news portal said in a statement today.
Health Ministry’s Director in charge of quarantine, Dr. L. B. H. Denuwara stated that those travelling from the infected countries will be subject to a special check at the Katunayake International Airport.
Seven new cases of MERS virus, have been confirmed in South Korea, by the country’s Health Ministry on Sunday. Some 16 people have died from the virus, 10 have recovered after being infected and 121 are under treatment.
