Those who raise their voice, in connection with investigations against the allies of the former government, are the most corrupt, said Leader of the House and Plantation Industries Minister Lakshman Kiriella.
The observation was made at a press conference held at Sirikotha on Tuesday (16).
“If they know, they’ve done nothing wrong or illegal, they must deal with the judicial process,” he added. Kiriella reminded that even the Prime Minister had to appear before the Court when he was the Opposition Leader some years ago during former President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s time.
“The new government wanted to be in power for only 100-days. That time is now over. Thus, the general election will be held without any delay,” Kiriella added.
Responding to a question from a reporter, Kiriella also said that US President Barack Obama is likely to visit Sri Lanka at the end of this year.
However, a Spokesperson for the US embassy in Colombo said that the visit is not confirmed yet as an official statement has not been released so far in this regard.
