The police have identified the suspects who were behind the murder of notorious underworld kingpin Jayaweera Patabendige Indika Nilusha alias Pallikudawe Ukkuwa, a police source said today (28).

The police have already located the hybrid car in which the suspects had arrived at the crime scene, the source added.

“The involved culprits will be apprehended soon,” he said.

Ukkuwa was killed by the unidentified group in Tangalle, on Sunday (26).

Two other persons, who were injured during the clash, are also being treated at the Tangalle hospital.

Last year, Ukkuwa was arrested for his alleged involvement in connection with the murder of a bus conductor at the Tangalle bus station.

According to the sources, Ukkuwa (37), started his very first job as a tour guide, when he was 14-years old. He was also the owner of two beach resorts located in heart of Tangalle city. According to the police, both resorts are illegal constructions. He was a father to two children.
