Minister prohibits use of SLTB buses for election campaigning

The Ministry of Internal Transport has issued a directive to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) not to grant permission for the political parties to use its properties for election campaign purposes.
Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara in writing had made the request to SLTB Chairman Ramal Siriwardena, in this regard, it was reported.
Minister Madduma Bandara pointed out that the bus travelers had to face many difficulties during last few years owing to the previous government’s move to deploy SLBT employees and its properties for election campaigning.
He added that the SLTB lost in millions since the previous government has overdue payments for the election campaign carried out during the last Presidential election.
