UPFA wins Matara while UNP wins Polonnaruwa

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has claimed victory in the Matara District while the United National Party (UNP) has won the Polonnaruwa District, according to the final district results.
In the Matara District, the UPFA has won 5 seats after obtaining 250,505 votes (52.44%) while the UNP has secured the other 3 seats in the district with 186,675 votes (39.08%).
The JVP obtained 35,270 votes (7.38%) but failed to secure any seats.
The UNP managed to win 3 seats in the Polonnaruwa District after polling a total of 118,845 votes (50.26%) while the UPFA in contrast secured 2 seats after obtaining 103,172 (43.63%) votes.
The JVP with 13,497 (5.71%) votes did not win any seats in the district.
