JVP Western Provincial Council member K.D. Lalkantha has decided to resign from his position as a Provincial Councillor.
He has resigned in order to accept a responsibility in the trade union sector in national politics, a spokesman for the party said.
However, political sources state that a conflict of opinions had surfaced during the party’s discussions to fill the two National List MP seats.
