The Met. Dept. forecasts that showers will occur at times in the sea area off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Hambantota via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers may also develop at several places in the sea areas around the island in the afternoon.
The Met Dept. says more showers can be expected in the southwestern part of the island.
Showers will occur at times in the Western, Northwestern, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Also several spells of showers can be expected in the Jaffna peninsula too.
Thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the period from 4 pm to 8 pm, the Met Dept. says.
Southwest monsoonal winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the country (particularly over central hills) and Northwestern & Southeastern sea areas.
