Miscreants ransacked KFC outlet in Puducherry on Thursday to register their protest against United States for its pro-Sri Lanka stand on the Sri Lankan Tamil issue.
Police said a gang of 10 hurled stones at the outlet and damaged the window pane. The gang members barged into the restaurant and broke the chairs, cash counter and equipment. They dumped fish waste in the premises and hurled rotten eggs inside the eatery.
They absconded leaving pamphlets that contained messages condemning the United States for taking a pro-Sri Lanka stand in the Sri Lankan Tamil issue. The protestors demanded the United States firms to wind their operations in Tamil Nadu and move out of the state.
The customers panicked and ran helter-skelter for safety. No one was injured in the attack. The Grand Bazaar police registered a case following a complaint from the restaurant staff.
Police managed to secure three people with the help of video footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the restaurant and launched a hunt for others involved in the crime. The arrested people were identified as Deenadayalan and Karunamoorthy from Kottaimedu and Magesh from Ariyankuppam.
