Bus strike on Matara-Colombo route

Private bus drivers operating on the Matara-Colombo bus route have resorted to a strike action since this morning (26), President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijerathne says.
The bus drivers have decided to resort to trade union action due to the inaction of the police to apprehend several individuals who had allegedly assaulted a bus driver.
Wijerathne added inter-provincial private buses operating on the Horana-Maharagama route have resorted to a strike action as well, since this morning, in protest against the attack on a bus driver.
