
Former Cabinet Minister of Civil Aviation and incumbent State Minister of Law and Order, Piyankara Jayaratne, today appeared at the special Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) probing serious cases of corruption and fraud.
The minister arrived at commission at around 9.00am today to give a statement regarding alleged financial irregularities at SriLankan Catering Limited during his tenure as the Civil Aviation Minister, according to the secretary of the commission Lesil de Silva.
Meanwhile the commission is also scheduled to record a statement from the former Chairman of SriLankan Airlines, Nishantha Wickramasinghe, who is the brother-in-law of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The special CoI was appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena to investigate and inquire into serious acts of fraud, corruption and abuse of power, state resources and privileges.
