Shyamali P. Perera, wife of former DIG Vass Gunawardena says that she will file an appeal in the murder case of businessman Mohamed Siyam since she cannot accept the High Court verdict.

The observation was made at a press conference held today in Boralesgamuwa, this morning.

She also went into say that she will launch a fast-unto-death over the incident.

“I cannot accept the High Court verdict. They always wanted to take revenge from my husband,” Perera said.

She also pointed out that even Siyam’s father had claimed his son was not murdered by Vass Gunawardena.

However, the father of murdered businessman earlier withdrew the statement he made regarding the former DIG.

Siyam, a father of three involved in the footwear business, had gone missing after dining with a friend named as M Fouzdeen in a Colombo suburb. His body was found with gunshot wounds in the Dompe area on May 22, 2013.

Following investigations, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Gunawardena on charges including murder for financial gain and conspiracy to kill.
