
Sri Lanka Navy assisted in bringing ashore a wounded fisherman from the Southern seas. According to naval sources the Navy has dispatched SLNS Jayasagara vessel for the rescue mission upon a request made by the Sri Lanka Coastguard.
The fisherman had been wounded in the eye when he was involved in fishing activities in the southern seas. He was brought ashore to the Galle harbor, the Defence Ministry said in a statement today. He has also been provided with basic medical facilities by naval personnel.
The injured fisherman was one among the five crew members of the multi-day fishing trawler Yasaisuru, which had left Beruwela fisheries harbor on November 10th for deep sea fishing.
