At least nine persons were wounded after a private bus veered off the road and crashed into a tree in the Siyambalagastenna area in Wegala, Teldeniya.
Police said that a bus traveling from Teldeniya to Kandy was involved in the accident which occurred at around 10.00am this morning.
Three of the injured passengers are reportedly in critical condition.
