Two killed as car collides with train

Two persons were killed after a train collided with a car at the Kapuwatta railway crossing in Kandana this morning.
It has been reported that the fatal collision occurred after the driver of the car ignored signals of the incoming expressway train, traveling from Bangadeniya to Colombo Fort, and attempted to pass through the railway crossing.
The driver of the car and the front seat passenger were rushed to the Ragama Hospital in critical condition, however they had succumbed to injuries shortly after.
The victims have been identified as a 42-year-old man and a 24-year-old youth from Minuwangoda and Ja-Ela.
Kandana Police is conducting an investigation.
