The Presidential Taskforce on Dengue has been recalled to discuss and put in place a comprehensive dengue control campaign, the Health Ministry said.
The Taskforce will pay special attention to the most affected Divisional Secretariat divisions in the 15 districts.
A total of 27,696 dengue cases had been reported from all parts of the country up to this month with over 54 dengue deaths, the Health Ministry added.
The Ministry says that approximately 52.1% of dengue cases were reported from the Western province.
The Ministry stresses that this situation warrants regular removal of possible mosquito breeding sites from the environment. It also emphasises that it is important to seek medical attention in the event of fever by day three of the illness.
