Lankan Tamil refugee sets herself afire in India

A 31-year-old Sri Lankan Tamil refugee set herself afire in the Refugee Camp at Kottapattu in India, The Hindu newspaper reported.

 


The woman J. Rohini is undergoing treatment at the Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital.

 


Police sources said domestic tiff between the woman and her husband was said to have driven her to resort to the extreme step.

 


The woman poured kerosene on her body and set herself afire in the refugee camp. The sources said the woman had suffered nearly 40 per cent burns.
