Top cop in hot water for drinking on duty

Disciplinary action will be taken against the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Warakapola police station for reporting to duty under the influence of alcohol, a senior police officer said.
A report issued by the Additional Judicial Medical Officer of the Kurunegala Teaching hospital has confirmed that the cop was under the influence of alcohol.
The OIC was produced before the Additional JMO following a directive issued by the Assistant Superintend of Police (ASP) in charge of Kurunegala District this morning.
An investigation in this regard was launched following a tip-off received by the ASP stating that OIC Nimal Priyantha had reported to duty under the influence of alcohol yesterday.
