LG polls won’t take place this year- Yapa

The next Local Government election would not be held this year as scheduled, says State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena.
The observation was made during a press conference held in Colombo today (17). He pointed out that efforts were taken to hold the election as scheduled this year but yet unexpected delays at the Delimitation Commission will result in the polls taking place next year.
However, earlier Minister Rajitha Senaratne said that the Local Government election would be held this year June under the new mixed electoral system.
