Indian authorities have sought the extradition of a man arrested in Singapore who is said to have had links with the LTTE, the Indian Express reported.
Senior officials in the Mumbai Police have claimed that it was the resources of new Mumbai Police Commissioner Datta Padsalgikar that helped the Singapore authorities nab wanted fugitive Kumar Pillai in a raid two weeks ago.
Pillai, officials said, had a close association with the LTTE and he was suspected to be holed up in the UK, Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka or Singapore, which have a sizeable Tamil population.
According to senior Crime Branch officials, Pillai of the infamous Kumar Pillai gang had been on the radar of the investigators since January. Pillai even reportedly escaped a raid in Singapore.
