The postmortem reveals inhalation of toxic gas as the probable cause for death of 4 bodies discovered at a house in Dehiwala, the Director of Kalubowila Teaching Hospital said.
The bodies including two children were discovered at around 10.00am this morning in the second floor of a three-storey residence in Kawdana Road, Dehiwala.
The deceased are originally residents of Weligama and include the father (65), mother (52), daughter (13) and a relative’s daughter (14).
The charred bodies were found spread across several locations in the living room of the house.
Police had suspected suspected an electrical fault at the residence as the probable cause fro the deaths.
The magistrates inquiry was carried out today by Mt Lavinia Magistrate Praharsha Ranasinghe while the bodies were taken to the Kalubowila Hospital for the autopsy.
