Police nab 3 suspects connected to several murders, robberies

Three individuals suspected to be connected to several murders have been arrested by the Mirihana Special Crimes Investigation Unit.

 

The suspects were arrested in Malabe, Rajagiriya and Battaramulla areas on charges of conspiracy to murder an individual in the Welikada police division as well as aiding and abetting. 

 

Following interrogation, the suspects had revealed information regarding the murder of 7 individuals in the Angunakolapelessa area in 1997, a robbery of gold jewelry worth Rs 35 million in Wellawatta and the a bank heist of gold worth over Rs 100 in Haliela.

 

A firearm found in the possession of the suspects has also been taken into custody while Mirihana Police is conducting further investigations.
