Met Department warns of thundershowers over most provinces

The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur today at several places over most provinces of the island particularly after 2.00 pm.
Fairly heavy falls (above 50mm) are also likely at some places while light showers may occur in the Western and Southern coastal areas in the morning too.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, the department said and urged general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
