Two Maldivians arrested with over 1 kg of heroin

The Police Narcotics Bureau has arrested 2 Maldivian nationals with over 1 kilogram of heroin at a hotel in Bambalapitiya, police spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

 

Acting on information received, the PNB carried out a raid and arrested the two suspects, aged 28 and 30, who were staying at the hotel in question and discovered 1 kg and 280 g of heroin in their possession. 

 

Police said that the discovery was a result of drug busts targeting a heroin network connecting Sri Lanka, Maldives and Pakistan and that assistance had been received from Maldivian authorities.
