A Sub-Inspector who was arrested for allegedly threatening a liquor shop staff member with a firearm in Dambulla has been remanded, the police said.
The suspect was remanded until May 16 after being produced before Dambulla Magistrate Kulatunga Bandara this morning (04).
Four police officers including the SI attached to the Dambulla Police station were interdicted in connection with the altercation which had occurred at the restaurant on April 27.
It has been reported that the four policemen, who were dressed in civilian attire, had visited the restaurant in question for the purpose of obtaining liquor and got into the argument with the staff.
During the confrontation, the SI had pulled out a firearm and proceeded to threaten an individual at the establishment. A decision was taken to interdict the policemen in question pending an investigation into the incident as well.
