Five individuals, who were arrested for allegedly demolishing a jogging track in Wattala, have been granted bail by the Wattala Magistrate’s Court today (13).
The suspects have also been ordered to surrender their passports to court, Ada Derana reporter said. They were arrested by the Wattala police and initially produced before court on May 03.
The sudden removal of a jogging track in the area had stirred controversy after it was alleged that Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Affairs John Amaratunga was involved in the move.
The jogging track in question was constructed under the previous regime and had been used by many residents in the area for their daily exercises.
