6 fishermen engaged in illegal fishing arrested

Six local fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy for engaging in illegal fishing activities in the lagoon area of Serunuwara.
On receipt of information, naval personnel attached to SLNS Lankapatuna in Eastern Naval Area arrested the fishermen on Thursday (02).
Along with the suspects a dinghy, a monofilament net, a diving mask and a pair of diving fins used for fishing activities were also taken into custody, SLN media unit said.
The apprehended persons and the items were produced to Serunuwara Police for onward action.
