The Supreme Court today (08) rejected the Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa seeking an order to prevent his possible arrest, Ada Derana reporter said.
The former Economic Development Minister filed the petition at the Supreme Court last month. Rajapaksa claimed that the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) is eyeing his arrest over money laundering charges.
However, he was arrested after arriving at the FCID to give a statement in connection with the money laundering case last Monday. Later, he was released on bail by the Pugoda Magistrate’s Court.
