The microphone system of the Parliament premises was malfunctioning yesterday not as a result of a conspiracy, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said.
The observation was made at the today’s Parliament session, Ada Derana reporter said.
Speaker Jayasuriya has also severely condemned the manner in which the media had reported the incident.
He also said the technical snag was reported while questions were directed to the Prime Minister, not during the debate on a motion of no-confidence against the Finance Minister.
The technical issue which resulted in the suspending of Parliament earlier yesterday has been rectified while sessions were commenced at 9.30am today (09).
Parliament proceedings were suspended until today by the Speaker due to the microphone system of the Parliament premises malfunctioning.
